Abstract

Jhumpa Lahiri?s The Namesake deals with the crisis of identity faced by immigrants in a foreign land. The novel portrays the cultural conflict between first and second generation immigrants. Gogol Ganguli?s struggle to reconcile his Indian roots with American culture highlights issues of displacement, alienation and identity formation.
